Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is readily absorbed through skin, and relieves musculoskeletal pain when applied topically to painful areas. We studied the effects of DMSO on C-type nerve fibers, which mediate (deep aching) pain sensation, (like in sprains, strains, arthritis etc). We found the ability of 9% DMSO to block C fibers contrasts with previous studies on myelinated A type nerve fibers (which mediate sharp pain), in which much larger concentrations (75%) were needed. DMSO produced analgesia by acting both locally and systemically. The analgesia appeared to be unrelated to that produced by morphine although the two appear to be a comparable magnitude. The aim of the present prospective randomized study was to evaluate the efficacy of lidocaine hydrochloride gel compared to dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) with lidocaine in a direct visual examination of the urinary tract with a rigid cystoscope. Our study shows that DMSO with lidocaine gel causes significantly less delivery discomfort in the male urethra than lidocaine hydrochloride gel. The advantages of DMSO with lidocaine are the mixture takes less time to act and had lower pain scores. Directions for Use: As a minimum - Apply 4 to 6 sprays of 70% DMSO and 30% Aloe Vera morning and night to your torso or direct above any pain and rub in well. After application rub in a good quality moisturiser like "Natural Instinct" Natural Body Lotion to maintain skin condition. Optionally for a more powerful dose - Take 5ml (tsp) (3500mg) of 70% DMSO and 30% water in a glass of fresh juice or water every four to six hours.
